Today, an important update was provided regarding the IOEMA Project, an subsea data cable that will connect five Northern European data hubs, including the Netherlands. The installation and maintenance of subsea cables are crucial to ensuring that the Netherlands continues to have access to fast and reliable internet connections.
In collaboration with the Dutch Subsea Cable Coalition, the IOEMA Project has decided to establish a second landing in the Netherlands, in the Rotterdam region. Eckhard Brukschen, CTO of IOEMA Fibre Ltd, stated in the published press release that the high level of interest from Dutch parties was decisive in realizing an additional landing point in the Netherlands.
“These landings are good news and of great importance for the future of the Netherlands as a digital hub,” said Martin Prins, ambassador of the Dutch Subsea Cable Coalition. “The Dutch Subsea Cable Coalition actively supports the IOEMA Project and other initiatives to land in the Netherlands.”
